Zinzino’s BalanceTest is an easy self-test to analyze the fatty acids in your blood and reflects the fat in the food you eat. BalanceTest is a dried blood spot (DBS) test that has been scientifically proven to be as accurate as a venous blood sample for fatty acid analysis.
Self-examination of dried blood spots
It measures 11 fatty acids in your blood.
It informs about the Omega-6:3 balance in your bodyIn today’s world we eat differently compared to the early 1900s when, for example, fast food was not on the menu.
But even if you cook your own food, the ingredients are unfortunately not of the same quality anymore. Meat tends to come mostly from barn-fed animals rather than grazing on pastures, and fish such as salmon are caught in closed basins and fed fishmeal rather than eating algae in the deep sea. This has a huge impact on the nutritional value of food and therefore on our cells, tissues and body.
It only takes a few drops of fingertip blood on a filter paper and takes less than a minute. VITAS Analytical Services* will anonymously analyze the levels of 11 fatty acids**, which make up a total of 98% of the fatty acids in the blood. Fatty acids include saturated, monounsaturated (omega-9) and polyunsaturated (omega-6 and omega-3) fatty acids. Results appear after about 20 days on the zinzinotest.com website where information is given on the Omega-6:3 fatty acid ratio, Omega 3 levels, fatty acid protection profile and more.
Research on the blood fatty acid profile has shown that this profile is closely related to health status.
*Vitas is a certified partner GMP chemical analysis laboratory, with 20 years of experience in providing high-quality chromatographic analysis based on state-of-the-art knowledge and technology.
**The 11 fatty acids are: palmitic (PA), stearic (SA), oleic (OA), linoleic (LA), alpha-linolenic (ALA), gamma-linolenic (GLA), di-homo-γ-linolenic (DHGLA) , arachidonic acid (AA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
HOW DOES IT WORK;
You should take your first BalanceTest and then immediately start the daily dose of Zinzino Balance products. Continue taking Balance products as recommended for 120 days and then take the second BalanceTest to see how your fatty acid profile has changed. *If your initial results show that your Omega-6:3 balance is 3:1 or lower, then you should contact Zinzino as you do not need the Balance product.
YOUR PROTECTION (FATY ACID PROFILE DETERMINATION)
This factor is related to the profile of 11 fatty acids in your blood. It is calculated from an equation that combines all essential long-chain fatty acids (Omega-6 and Omega-3), Omega-3 levels (EPA DHA) and Omega-6 (AA)/Omega-3 (EPA) balance. The scale ranges from 0 to 100 and the goal is to help your client achieve 100 on the second test after 120 days. This factor does not reflect the individual’s health status but only the level of fatty acid protection.
BALANCE OF OMEGA-6 (AA) TO OMEGA-3 (EPA)
Omega-6 (AA)/Omega-3 (EPA) balance is measured as the ratio between the C20:4 “plant” Omega-6, arachidonic acid (AA), and the marine Omega-3, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). This ratio is an approximate expression of the distribution between vegetable fatty acids and fatty acids derived from fish, in the diet followed. An excess of plant-based Omega-6 fatty acids will create an imbalance in the diet and make it pro-inflammatory. The ratio of Omega-6 (AA) to Omega-3 (EPA) should preferably be lower than 3:1. If this ratio is greater than 3:1, you will benefit from a change in your diet. A low balance between Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids is important for maintaining normal cell and tissue growth (homeostasis) and helps the body control inflammation.
OMEGA-3 (EPA DHA) LEVEL
“Omega-3 (EPA DHA) levels” is the combined percentage value of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA over the total value of fatty acids present in the blood. Omega-3s have many benefits because they are the main building blocks inside your cells. EPA is predominant in blood, muscle and tissues, while DHA predominates in the brain, sperm and eyes. In test results the ideal range is 8% or more. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) claims that EPA and DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal heart function. DHA also contributes to maintaining normal vision and normal brain function.
CELL MEMBRANE FLUIDITY INDEX
The ratio between saturated fatty acids and the essential marine omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), is indicative of cell membrane fluidity. The more saturated the fats in the cell membrane, the more rigid the membrane. Conversely, the more polyunsaturated fats found in the membrane, the more fluid the membrane structure. Cell membrane composition and structural architecture is critical to cell health and therefore to the organism. On the one hand, the membrane must be rigid enough to provide a safe architectural structure. On the other hand, its structure must be fluid enough to allow the influx of nutrients and repel waste. This ratio must be less than 4:1.
MENTAL POWER – NUTRITIONAL INDEX
It is the balance between Omega-6 (AA) and Omega-3 (EPA DHA). An adequate supply of Omega-3 fatty acids of marine origin in the diet, especially DHA, contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function. The daily administration of 3g of Omega-3 fatty acids of marine origin EPA and DHA for 3 months significantly reduced feelings of anger in users, compared to a group receiving a placebo, as demonstrated in a study. Several other clinical studies have shown that cognitive performance improves with increased consumption of marine-derived Omega-3s EPA and DHA. Childhood and old age are two critical and vulnerable stages, and Omega-3 fatty acid deficiency is associated with learning disabilities, memory disorders, and mood disorders. This ratio should be below 1:1.
ARACHIDONIC ACID (AA) FORMING CAPACITY
It shows how efficiently your body converts Omega-6 (LA) fatty acids from the foods in your diet into essential Omega-6 (AA) fatty acids in your body. If you have a yield of less than 30% it is recommended to include foods high in AA in your diet such as chicken, turkey, pork and farmed salmon.
EXECUTION OF THE TEST
The Zinzino Test is an approved in vitro diagnostic product for the collection of a personal blood sample at home. – First wash your hands with soap, rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry. Remove the blood sample collection card from the paper sleeve. Keep the pouch for later use. Remove the SAVE portion of the card and take a photo of the Test ID. You can view your test result ONLY with your PERSONAL Test ID. Place the card with the two circles facing up on the table.
2. Use the alcohol wipe to clean the tip of your finger (middle finger is recommended). To increase blood flow make large circles with your hand or shake the hand downward for 20 seconds. Remove the disposable needle. Remove the protective transparent cover and the sharpener is ready to use.
3. Place the scratcher on the lower side of the finger facing the collection paper on the table. Press the top of the stylus onto the finger until you hear a click. The scribbler will automatically make a small puncture on the finger.
4. Do not touch the filter paper circles with your hands. Gently press the finger once and add at least 3 drops of blood to each printed circle on the collection card. The blood should completely fill the inner part of the circles.
Important: Avoid too much forceful finger pressure to force the blood to drip.
5. Leave the collection card flat at room temperature for at least 10 minutes to allow the sample to dry completely.
6. Place the blood sample collection card inside the paper holder. Then place the paper bag inside the metal bag and seal.
Important: Do not remove the moisture absorbent bag inside the metal bag.
7. Place the sealed metal bag inside the large envelope marked with the laboratory address: NOTE! It is NECESSARY to affix the correct number of stamps to the envelope before mailing.
8. Go online and enter your Test ID at www.zinzinotest.com. This is the website where you can see your test results later. Your results will be ready in 10-20 days.
Important: Save the SAVE section of the card. You can ONLY view your test results online with YOUR PERSONAL Test ID.
